While passengers can watch videos, read or play games, radio is the only entertainment for drivers (police frown on drivers who drive, read the paper and watch television). Both XM and Sirius Satellite Radio offer this "living-room" technology for your car. Now we don't have to miss a minute of our favorite broadcasting.
Say, for example, you are driving down the road and Martha Stewart lists the ingredients for a fantastic pie you just HAVE to make. If you are listening to regular radio, you just have to accept the fact you missed the list. That's not the case when you are listening to a radio that allows you to pause, rewind and replay live radio. It's like having TIVO in your car!
In fact, many satellite radio customers feel like they have their own personal TIVO from the airwaves the very minute they get into their car and tune in. Many am/fm customers don't have the programming choices that are available to the satellite providers. There is no need to miss a football game just because you are taking a long trip. You can tune in to your favorite team on one of the NFL channels and hear all the action live! Did you miss an important play? Just use your remote control to rewind and hear the action again.
Most small children are not interested in Dad's favorite team. If you are on a family trip, Sirius is now the first to offer a great alternative for kids-Backseat TV. The kids can watch a variety programs from Nickelodeon, the Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. The best part is---you can still listen to your game in the front seat! We can only assume XM will be the next inline to provide this service.
